You can't, until you actually try a drive that's not for the region the drive is set to. You can, open DVD Genie and in the RPC tab there is an "RPC Check" button and if your I did however try an app called "Drive Region Info" (driveinfo22.exe) and it shows me "no region protection". Check this: It's locked at region 1 through Windows 2000. If I insert a R1 disc it refuses to play. If I insert a R2 disc it plays no problems. When I look at the drive properties in WinXP, however, under the DVD Region tab, it says there are 2 changes remaining and the current region is Not Selected.

DVD Region Fix
In every other XP system I have ever seen, the DVD drive is labelled "DVD Drive (E:)". This one, being a DVD drive, should as well. Now: Windows KNOWS this is a DVD drive. It properly plays DVD's, it gives me the DVD Region tab in Device Manager Properties, and PowerDVD recognizes it just fine. It WORKS just fine.
